Rhapsody (and Blue)

Photo: Rhapsody and Blue

Rhapsody and Blue are 2 very tall and handsome donkeys transported to the UK from Budapest in Hungary after a lady travelling through the city became very concerned upon seeing the poor condition they were both in. They were being used for pulling carts and the harnesses which went around their heads were a mixture of wire and rope leaving injuries on their ears and foreheads. They were emaciated, very underweight, and quite poorly with mud fever due to being kept on mud with no grass to eat. The lady found the situation upsetting and decided she needed to do something about it; she bought the donkeys there and then and paid for their transport to England where she became very fond of the 2 boys. Although the lady wanted Rhapsody and Blue to have the best life possible it was also important to her that they were located somewhere she could visit frequently and so living in Ashbourne (Derbyshire) she contacted the Trust to see if we could take them in and we were pleased to oblige.
